THERE WAS NO NEED TO USE LOCTITE TO SECURE THE HARDTOP LATCH SCREWS. NOW I GOTTA FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE THESE HEAD-STRIPPED SCREWS AND THE DRILL-REMOVAL METHOD ISN'T WORKING.
911 SC for you time.

Left handed drill bits? Weld a nut onto the screw and then turn it out?

I'm changing out the latches for a Miata hardtop but the original screws holding the latches in place won't bulge and my pops foolish stripped all of the heads.

Tried that, the extractor won't grab onto the screw for some reason. It just makes a bigger hole.

If they are Loctited, use a heat source, such as a heat gun. (not a hair dryer) to loosen the grip of the Loctite. Works quite well. Of course, the heated area must be able to stand the heat. And it sounds like you may have gone beyond that at this point. Pic of the damaged area would be helpful.

One time I was in a sensitive spot, had blown up the bolt, and couldn't use heat or extra force. Had to smooth one edge of a sharp new file, flatten it, soften the square edges, and then painfully, slowly, file two flat places on either side of the bolt so I could hook a wrench in there and give it a thwack to break those lovers free. They came out, but the victory felt pyrrhic.
